What changed after approval?
What changed between the payroll that was approved and the payroll that was submitted?
A useful verification record should explain what was compared, what changed, what remains unresolved and where to find the supporting source evidence.
Explore the proposed record below. We want to learn whether it helps people who perform or supervise this work—or whether existing tools already do the job adequately.
Explore fictional results ↓Read this before the results.
This demonstration uses fictional data. It is experimental, has not been validated against real payroll files and is not production-ready. It does not establish whether a change was authorised, lawful or financially correct. Excel, Power Query and payroll systems may already address this problem.
A known failure: duplicate identifiers
In an adversarial test, an approved transaction of 3,200.00 appeared in the submitted file twice, each with an amount of 9,999.00. The prototype flagged the duplicate identifier but reported zero changes without displaying the material submitted amounts in the readable exception report.
Records with duplicate or blank identifiers are not compared with the other file. Every listed conflict requires manual investigation.
A zero-change headline does not mean zero unresolved discrepancies.
Inspect the control record.
The walkthrough displays frozen fictional results. Its controls navigate those results; they do not run a payroll comparison. There are no uploads.

Source output: original report · original exceptions CSV. The separate C3 failure is not part of the 100/102-row fixture. The full source-row ledger is not included in this presentation package.
Would this help you check?
- How do you currently check approved records against submitted records?
- Does your payroll system or spreadsheet process already provide adequate evidence?
- Would a source-referenced exception record be useful? Why?
- What would make you distrust this output?
Feedback is voluntary. Please say whether you explored the demonstration or are responding only to the explanation, so we can distinguish the two.
